Hi-BITS sponsors Symposium A at E-MRS Spring Meeting 2026
From 25 to 29 May, the international materials science community gathered in Strasbourg, France, for the European Materials Research Society (E-MRS) Spring Meeting 2026. Hi-BITS took part as an official sponsor and was represented extensively throughout the event.
Recognised as one of the field's leading conferences, the meeting brought together researchers, engineers, and industry leaders across 24 parallel symposia dedicated to recent advances in materials science. Among these, Hi-BITS sponsored Symposium A: Thin-Film Chalcogenide Materials for PV and Solar Energy Conversion, which addressed key challenges at the intersection of semiconductor physics, photovoltaics, and solar-to-fuel technologies. The choice of symposium reflects the project's broader objective of advancing CIGS thin-film technology as a viable and scalable contributor to Europe's renewable energy targets. By convening researchers and industry representatives working at the forefront of next-generation solar materials, Symposium A offered a particularly relevant setting for the consortium to present its findings, engage in scientific discussion, and build the collaborations needed to carry this work forward.
This commitment extended well beyond sponsorship. Over the course of the week, Hi-BITS was represented through a substantial number of poster presentations and 12 oral presentations, underscoring the depth of ongoing research within the consortium and reinforcing its position as an active contributor to the field.
Taken together, Hi-BITS' participation at E-MRS 2026 offered a meaningful opportunity to contribute to discussions shaping the next generation of solar solutions, developed through CIGS technology and grounded in the project's broader commitment to sustainability.
