Hi-BITS Consortium Reviews Progress in Braga General Assembly

The Hi-BITS Consortium met on 11–12 June for a General Assembly hosted by the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) in Braga.

As the EU-funded project approaches its final stretch, this crucial meeting brought together 27 representatives from academia, industry, and research centres to review progress across all work packages. Over two days, the agenda covered results and analysis on the development of bifacial and semi-transparent CIGS solar cells, progress on module-level efficiency optimisation, updates on prototype fabrication and real-world testing, and the project's ongoing sustainability and life-cycle assessments.

Beyond the formal sessions, participants also toured INL's state-of-the-art facilities, getting a first-hand look at the equipment and cleanroom infrastructure that underpins the consortium's research.

Having mapped out its next steps, the consortium is now preparing for a successful close; guided, as ever, by Hi-BITS' mission to deliver next-generation, high-efficiency thin-film solar technologies.
