Hi-BITS Consortium convenes in Germany for Project Meeting

On March 11-12, the Hi-BITS consortium convened in Stuttgart, Germany, for a project meeting, hosted by the Zentrum für Sonnenenergie- und Wasserstoff-Forschung Baden-Württemberg (ZSW).

The two-day gathering counted with the onsite presence of over 20 researchers and experts, while online attendance saw 25 participants from prestigious universities, research centres, and industry partners alike.

Scientific discussions centred on the project's workflow and strategic vision, culminating in a guided tour of ZSW's facilities. The meeting also provided an opportunity to review data gathered from outdoor testing of bifacial and semi-transparent CIGS modules, as well as modules featuring reflective back contacts, all developed within the Hi-BITS framework and deployed across three European test sites in Spain, France, and Germany.

Having operated under real-world conditions for several months, the data yielded critical insights to inform the next development cycle, whilst enabling early identification and mitigation of potential degradation mechanisms.

The meeting concluded with the sharing of key updates that will drive the continued development and advancement of next-generation thin-film photovoltaic device architectures.
